What's The Point Of Medical School?
As of writing, medicine is highly regulated.
Superficially, medical school gives us hoops to jump through, which (if done successfully) grants us certain regulatory protections.
In a deeper sense, it also gives us a chance to go onto the wards, and into theatre, and ground ourselves in the fundamentals of the field using nature and human nature as mechanisms of error correction.
The trick is to do as much as possible of the second without neglecting the first.
